Although this blog is not about bacon, it is about one delicious and savory American treat. The Twinkie. A twinkie is an American snack cake, marketed as a "Golden Sponge Cake with Creamy Filling". It was made and sold by Hostess Brands. It is currently owned by Apollo Global Management and C. Dean Meteopolous and Company. During bankruptcy, Twinkie production was ended on November 21, 2012. But dont worry, twinkies are now back and sold in lots of places.
As I said before, twinkies are small yellow cakes filled with a creamy filling. There are many different ways. You can deep fry it or make it into a sandwhich. A deep-fried twinkie is first frozen and then dipped into the batter and then deep-fried to create a twinkie.
Twinkies were invented in Shiller Park, Illinois on April 6, 1930 by James Alexander Dewar, a baker for the Continential Baking Company. There was a machine that filles strawberry cream into other cakes, but strawbarries were not in season at the time so he used banana cream and named it the twinkie. The company was then forced to stop using banana cream and started to use vanilla cream. Since then, the recipe has not changed. Kids, teens, and adults everywhere in American have enjoyed the delicious taste of twinkies.

Some Good Tucker!!
Today I will be talking about Vegemite. Some of you may know what Vegemite is. Vegemite is a dark brown Australian food paste. It was developed by Cyril P. Callister in Melbourne in 1922. Vegemite is made from leftover brewers' yeast extract with various vegetables and spice additives. Vegemite is a popular spread for sandwiches, toasts, crumpets, and cracker biscuits. While it is made in Australia, the brand is now owned by American company Mondelēz International. Other Australian-owned spreads have come in market but none like Vegemite.
Because of Vegemite's salty and slightly bitter taste, most do not enjoy eating it. But many people eat
Vegemite in many different ways. A common method is on toasted bread with one layer of butter or margarine before spreading a thing layer of Vegemite. It can also be used as a filling for pastries such as the Cheesymite scroll. Vegemite is also a healthy spread. Vegemite is one of the richest sources of Vitamin B. Vegemite does not contain any fat, added sugar, or animal content.
There were jingles that helped Vegemite rise up in popularity. One famous one that was made in 1954; it used groups of smiling, healthy children signing this tune:
We're happy little Vegemites
As bright as can be.
We all enjoy our Vegemite
For breakfast, lunch, and tea.
Our mummies say we're growing stronger
Every single week,
Because we love our Vegemite
We all adore our Vegemite

BON APPÉTIT
Today I will be talking about the colorful French cookies called Macarons. Macaroons are type of small circular cake. They are typically made from almonds, coconut, or other nuts or even potato. Sugar, egg white, and sometimes other ingredients like honey, vanilla, spices, glade cherries or a chocolate coating are used too. Macaroons are often baked on edible rice paper that is placed on a baking tray. This sweet treat is mostly made with coconut but here in the United States they are sold in beautiful colors such a orange, brown, yellow, red, green, white, etc.
These tasty treats can be traced back to Italian roots yet in the 15th century, the monks came to France and joined the pastry chefs of Catherine de Medici. Later two Benedictine nuns came seeking for refuge during the French Revolution. They paid for their needs by baking and selling macaroon cookies. From there on out macaroon cookies are well known in many parts of the world and enjoyed by many people.
